Surplus products can work just as well as those purchased from the original manufacturer, so long as they are properly maintained and stored. At Second Wind Labs, we source only high-quality surplus or liquidated items, still in their original packaging and with no visible damage or seal breaks. There is always a risk that surplus items may not work as well as brand new items, and this risk is reflected in the cost of our products. 

Expired consumables have little use in highly regulated aspects of biotechnology such as GLP/GMP activities, but have much value to organizations looking to perform pilot runs of new processes or train others in hands-on procedures without spending large amounts of money on products priced for industry use. Expiration dates for plastic-derived consumables are largely based on sterilization integrity,  and these products are often still applicable to research only uses. Please note that for safety reasons, Second Wind Labs does NOT sell expired versions of reagents, media, fluids, or other "wet" products that contain biological material or are capable of supporting any kind of microbial or growth. 

Returns have become a common part of the modern customer experience, but can drive excessive expenses for businesses. On average, returning an item will cost the seller up to 60% of the original price, and sometimes even more than the actual item is worth. This cumbersome, expensive system has a disproportionate impact on total operating costs for the entire business model, while providing value for only a small subset of customers.  

These costs are always baked into buying equation, driving up prices for the consumer. In our mission to be sustainable and our efforts to provide only the most competitive deals, we have chosen to sacrifice this small but costly service, allowing us to have thinner margins and return the savings to our customers through lower prices. You will find notice of this No Return policy clearly visible throughout our purchasing process, in accordance with required state and federal laws.

For items too large to ship by regular mail, SWL will package the items onto pallets and have them shipped LTL (Less than Truck-Load) to your ship-to address. After you purchase a Freight-required item, our team will reach out to you with any additional details and provide a you a shipping quote. We work with logistics providers to guarantee the best prices for our customers, but you are welcome to make your own shipping arrangements as well. For freight shipping, the customer is always responsible for paying the shipping costs. Please be mindful that to ship with standard LTL services usually cost a few hundred dollars per pallet, but multi-item orders can be arranged onto a single pallet.
